Climate Change

With the increasing threat of climate change, aquatic organisms may be under elevated environmental stress. At ICER research is being undertaken into how micro-scale variation in thermal habitat provides refuge for salmonids in southern chalk streams, this will allow these critical habitats to be preserved or restored as part of future mitigation strategies. Research is also being undertaken into how thermal pollution from power stations affects river invertebrate communities, providing information on the future impacts of climate change.
