Environmental flows

Human activity (e.g. water abstraction and hydropower generation) is altering flow regimes within rivers and disrupting sediment transport and the availability and quality of physical habitat. Environmental flow relates to the quantity, quality and timing of flow within river systems. At ICER, research within this area aims to better understand the effect we have on flow, the ecological implications and how any negative impacts can be mitigated.
